Why stay in an ordinary hotel room when you can spend the night in a suite?

The most exceptional of these accommodations deliver on design, style, setting, and overall experience, says Andrew Steinberg, an advisor with the luxury travel company Ovation Vacations in New York who frequently books suites for his discerning clients.

“They don’t necessarily have to be the biggest rooms at a property, but they do have to mirror or exceed how the people who stay in them live,” Steinberg says. “They’re used to the best of the best and don’t think twice about spending the money for that standard when it comes to their hotels.”

Steinberg and his partner at Ovation Vacations, Jill Fischbarg, shared their top seven picks with Penta—suite- their clients love and regularly request.

Penthouse Suite, Rosewood, Baha Mar Nassau, Bahamas

An easy, breezy ocean vibe—think airy interiors, cream and white tones, native plants, and colorful Bahamian prints—brings the Penthouse Suite at Rosewood Baha Mar to life. Located on a 1,000-acre resort, the home away from home has three bedrooms, ocean views, and living and dining areas designed to entertain. But the terrace may be the star with its oceanfront plunge pool, firepit, and several spaces for lounging and socializing. A personal butler is a quick text or call away to fulfill any request. Nightly rates start at US$12,000

Emma Koehler Suite, Hotel Emma Austin, Texas

Located in a former 19th-century brewery on the San Antonio River, Hotel Emma is a hip property designed by the notable firm Roman and Williams. The aesthetic juxtaposes the building’s original historical details with modern touches. Named after the doyenne who ran the brewery following the death of her husband, Otto, the Emma Koehler Suite is a two-level space with floor-to-ceiling windows that offer unobstructed river views,a grand piano, vaulted ceilings, an abundance of natural light, and the more than 700-square-foot terrace with a fireplace and dining table. Nightly rates from US$2,500

Meadow Cottage, Twin Farms Barnard, Vermont

Meadow is the most whimsical and unexpected of the ten cottages at Twin Farms, an ultra-elite, all-inclusive resort in the countryside of Vermont. The clapboard exterior resembles a quaint cottage, but the inside transports guests to Morocco. It’s a 900-square-foot space cloaked in intricate mosaics and featuring a tented ceiling, terra cotta floors, colored glass, and bronze columns. The centerpiece in the spacious bathroom is a freestanding tub overlooking the surrounding woods. Nightly rates from US$3,500

Christopher Columbus Suite, Eden Rock St. Barths

Set atop a rock that faces St. Jean Bay, the Christopher Columbus Suite is one of the most in-demand hotel rooms in all of St. Barths. The ocean views are a big appeal, but so is the setting: the more than 2,600-square-foot space has oak floors and is decked out in stylish contemporary furniture. Features include an air-conditioned terrace, hot tub, large living area, floor-to-ceiling windows, and a bar filled with rare whiskies and fine wines. Nightly rates from US$4,275

More akin to an extravagant home than a hotel room, the 3,425-square-foot Royal Suite has a total of 12 rooms, including a dining room with seating for a dozen guests. It also has three bedrooms, a sitting area with a fireplace, and a large living room that’s ideal for hosting cocktail parties and other events. Design details include contemporary artwork, oversized light fixtures, and modern furniture in warm color tones. Nightly rates from US$5,300

Veranda Suite, Beverly Wilshire, A Four Seasons Hotel Beverly Hills

The Beverly Wilshire’s Veranda Suite is playful and unique at once. Reached by a wrought iron and marble staircase, the tucked away room has a crisp white-and-gray bedroom. The ta-da moment comes with the terrace with views of Rodeo Drive and the Hollywood Hills. It has a tepee meant for sleeping alfresco and a firepit surrounded by seating for nights spent under the stars. Nightly rates from US$3,500

Presidential Suite, The Carlyle, A Rosewood Hotel New York

City views that include Central Park and the Manhattan skyline don’t get any better than those  from The Carlyle’s Presidential Suite. Recently remodeled, the three-bedroom space spans just over 2,700 square feet and has four full bathrooms plus one half-bath. The entryway is decorated with gold leaf murals that reference Art Deco while Venetian plaster walls, cream tones, and dark wood floors. A gallery with a grand piano completes the showpiece effect. Nightly rates from US$40,000
